Blue Tit

The Blue tit is one of the most attractive, commonest of the tit family that’s resident in your garden. They are particularly attracted to gardens that offer them peanuts in a feeder. They readily breed in nest boxes if you site them in a suitable location in your garden, and are frequent visitors to the garden bird bath. They can be seen across the whole of the UK.
Identification
- Male
- Yellow under-parts with blue wings, a blue tail and a blue cap - usually slightly brighter than females
- Female
- Very similar to males, although often not quite as bright
- Size
- Blue tits have a wingspan of 12-14cm, a body length of 12cm and weigh about 11g
- Habitat
- Common in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens
- Behaviour
- In winter, family flocks join up with other tits as they search for food
