The Safflower seed is a high energy seed, eaten by a wide variety of birds.
Safflowers are a good alternative to black sunflower s & sunflower hearts if you have problems with the squirrels as squirrels don't like the taste of safflowers whereas they love all other types of sunflowers.
Please note - Safflowers do have a hard outer shell unlike sunflower hearts so your birds may take longer to get used to them and start eating them especially if you have been feeding their favourite sunflower hearts which are easier to eat and have no outer shell.
