Pied Wagtail - Motacilla alba
The Pied Wagtail is a familiar black & white bird from the wagtail family common throughout the British Isles all year round. These delightful little birds can be seen gathering in large roosts at dusk in towns & cities.
Redstart - Phoenicur us phoenicurus
Redstarts are mainly found in the north & west of the UK, with the highest numbers found in Wales. Can be seen between April & September. They are a widespread summer visitor. Redwing -Turdus iliacus
The redwing is the smallest true thrush and a winter visitor to the UK. Widespread and abundant winter visitor, recent breeder in northern Scotland. Migrants arrive from September and leave again around March and April.
Robin - Erithacus rubecula
The robin is the most familiar and popular of the garden & woodland birds see across the whole of the UK all year round.
Siskin - Carduelis spinus
This little lively finch is mainly a resident breeder from southern England to northern Scotland but seen in higher numbers in Wales & Scotland. During the winter months they are seen more frequently across England.
Skylark - Alauda arvensis
The Skylark is a widespread visitor of Britain & Ireland that can be found in a wide variety of habitats all seasons of the year. This small brown bird is larger than a sparrow but smaller than a starling. Its population is in decline putting it on the endangered list of birds.
Song Thrush - Turdus philomelos
This neat medium - sized thrush can be seen & heard all year round across the whole of the UK
Starling - Sturnus vulgaris
Widespread all year round UK visitor. A noisy, gregasious bird most abundant in southern England, more thinly distributed in uplands areas with moorlands. Although they are still the UK's commenest garden bird its decline in numbers puts it on the red list status.
Red is the highest conservation priority, with species needing urgent action.
Tree Sparrow - Passer montanus
The tree sparow can be seen all year round. Its scarcer in the uplands, and far north & west of the UK. The main populations are found in the Midlands, southern & eastern England.
