Crested Tit

Crested tit - Parus critatus
The crested tit is not as colourful as the other tits. Its largely confined to ancient Caledonian pine forests and Scots pine plantations and is attracted to broken tree stumps and scattered birches.
Indentification
Adult grey/ brown upperparts with prominent upstanding black amid white streaked crest. White face with clearly marked black eye stripe, black bib and line extending to enclose eyes.
Size 11 - 12cm
Bill black short and stubby.
Legs Black: medium in length

Flight undulating; flitting.

Nest hole in old tree stumps
Eggs lays 4 - 8 eggs, eggs are white, speckled purple.
Incubation period 13 – 18 days
Fledgling 17 - 21 days
Broods 1;  April - May
